Cheap flights and low airfares are the norm at Frankfurt-Hahn (HHN) with buses available to Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Heidelberg, Mainz, Koblenz, Trier, and Luxemburg.

Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) is famously far away from the city Frankfurt am Main. Hahn’s location in a sparsely populated area far from major towns keeps costs down for airlines but forces budget travelers to drive to the airport, as no train service is available. Bus tickets can cost more than the low airfare before taxes and surcharges and the rides are often longer than the accompanied flights.

Reduced fares are generally available for children (sometimes even free) while surcharges are common for bulky luggage and sports equipment. Except for the service to Luxemburg, reservations are not possible for individuals (but often compulsory for groups of 5 or more).

  • Tickets are bought from the driver – only cash in euro accepted.

Buses from Frankfurt am Main to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport

Bohr Omnibus runs at least hourly buses to Hahn departing from the south side of Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (bus stop marked Ryanair-Bohr) from 2:30 am to 10 pm, stopping 15 minutes later at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA Terminal 1 Arrivals Level, bus stop 22). Return buses leaves Hahn from 5 am to 0:30 am. Traveling time is 1h45 to 2 hours. Tickets are €12 (€6 for children up to 7).

Buses from Mainz and Wiesbaden to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport

ORN & Bohr Omnibus have at least hourly departures to Hahn from Mainz Hauptbahnhof (Bus Stop N) from 3:45 am to 10:30 pm. Buses return from Hahn to Mainz from 5 am to 0:30 am. Tickets are €11 (€6.50 for children 6 to 14). Traveling time is 70 minutes.

Mainz Hauptbahnhof is easily reached by S-Bahn train from Wiesbaden. It is the closest German Railways (Deutsche Bahn DB) station to Hahn with Inter-City (IC) and Inter-City-Express (ICE) trains. However, for many connections it is better to continue to the station at Frankfurt International Airport.

Buses from Darmstadt to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport

Merth Reisen operates five buses per day from Darmstadt Central Bus Station (ZOB bus stop 16) and Hahn Airport. The journey takes 90 minutes. Tickets are €9.50 (€5 for children up to 8).

Buses from Heidelberg to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport

Hahn Express has nine buses per day from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof (McDonalds) to Hahn Airport. Seven of these buses also stop en route at Mannheim Central Bus Station (ZOB bus stop 6 at platform 1 of the Hauptbahnhof) and Ludwigshafen Hauptbahnhof (bus stop 6). The journey takes just over two hours (about half an hour less from Mannheim and Ludwigshafen). Tickets are €18 (€16 from Mannheim or Ludwigshafen).

Buses from Koblenz to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport

RMV and Bohr Omnibus run six buses per day from Koblenz Hauptbahnhof (bus stop 6) to Hahn Airport. The ride is 70 minutes. Tickets are €12.80 (€6.40 for children 6 to 11).

Buses from Cologne (Köln) to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport

Bohr Omnibus has six buses per day from Cologne Main Station (Köln Hauptbahnhof Breslauer Platz) to Hahn Airport. Journey time is 2h15. Tickets are €15 (€8 for children under 7).

Buses from Trier to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport

RegioLinie 100 connects Trier Hauptbahnhof (bus stop 1) and Hahn Airport seven times per day in 1h20. The fare is €12 (€8 for children 6 to 14).

Buses from Saarbrücken to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport

Scherer Reisen has eight buses per day from Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof (Bus Stop B) to Hahn Airport. The journey takes up to two hours. Tickets are €16 (€8 for children up to 7).

Buses from Luxemburg to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport

Flibco operates 20 buses per day from Luxemburg to Hahn Airport. Journey time from Luxemburg bus station CFL/RGTR (bus stop 1, next to Avis) is 1h45 and just over an hour from Wasserbillig (Luxemburg-German border). Tickets are €17 and reservations are not only possible but recommended as less popular rides, like budget flights, are discounted.

  • Driving to and from Frankfurt-Hahn Airport is often a sensible alternative to buses to compliment cheap flights to numerous European destinations.

Hi,
I'd like to signal an other service to/from Frankfurt Hahn Airport:
http://www.terravision.eu/frankfurt.html

This service, operated by Terravision, connects Hahn airport to Neu Isenburg, Offenbach, Hanau. It's very cheap.

In addition, this is good to reach Frankfurt city centre too:
"Terravision coach until Offenbach + S-Bahn train to Frankfurt city centre
The Terravision coach drops you off in front of the S-Bahn Offenbach Kaiserlei stop where you can take the metropolitan service to the Centre of Frankfurt."

Cheers

Could anyone suggest to me how to get from Frankfurt Hahn airport to the town of Briey in France please?
Sep 30, 2009 9:15 AM
Henk Bekker :
Your best bet is probably to take a Flibco bus (around 8 per day) from Hahn to Thionville (2h30). Public transportation from here to Briey (around 25 km) is very limited - maybe ask you contact in Briey for suggestions.
