Cheap tickets and low airfares are available on Mexican low-cost airlines flying to Acapulco Airport (ACA) from Mexico City, Toluca, Puebla, Monterrey, and Guadalajara.

Package vacations to Acapulco have been popular decades before the first hotel in Cancun has been built. Currently, the real estate market in Acapulco is again booming with new luxury hotels, apartment buildings, and condominiums being built. Acapulco remains a favored year-round destination with famous nightlife in addition to the Pacific and reliable sunny weather.

The number of non-stop flights to Acapulco’s General Juan N. Álvarez International Airport (ACA) is surprisingly low. Most flights are the short, hour-long hop from Mexico City but Mexican low-cost carriers are beginning to add more destinations and lower ticket prices.

Cheap Flights from Acapulco (ACA) on Mexican Budget Airline Interjet

Low-cost airline Interjet flies two to four times per day to Acapulco from its base at Toluca Airport (TLC) near Mexico City. Interjet competes with buses and private cars on this route – cheap tickets and good deals are often available.

Cheap Flights from Acapulco (ACA) on Mexican Budget Airline Vivaaerobus

Low-cost carrier Vivaaerobus flies three times per week from its base at Monterrey Airport (MTY) to Acapulco. Vivaaerobus often has spectacular online deals and low fares.

Cheap Flights from Acapulco (ACA) on Mexican Budget Airline Aviacsa

Aviacsa flies daily non-stop from Acapulco to Mexico City Airport (MEX). In contrast to most budget airlines, Aviacsa offers guaranteed connections to many destinations in Mexico on flights from Acapulco via its Mexico City hub. A few times per week, Aviacsa also flies non-stop from Acapulco to Oaxaca and Tijuana (TIJ).

Cheap Flights from Acapulco (ACA) on Mexican Budget Airline Avolar

Avolar, a Tijuana-based low-cost airline, flies from Acapulco to Puebla, Hermosillo, and Tijuana. Avolar’s schedule is a bit odd in that the flights are often in a triangle or circular route making for completely different return flight options. Avolar flies non-stop four times per week to Puebla (but only two non-stop returns to Acapulco are available). These four flights continue to Hermosillo and terminate in Tijuana – clearly not the most logical direct route. Twice a week, Avolar flies non-stop from Acapulco to Hermosillo and continue to Tijuana. From Tijuana, six flights per week are available to Acapulco – four times non-stop and twice via Puebla. Avolar has no return flights from Hermosillo to Acapulco.

Cheap Flights from Acapulco (ACA) to Mexico City Airport (MEX)

Most flights from Acapulco are to Mexico City Airport (MEX). Aviacsa is the only low-cost carrier operating on this route, while Interjet flies to nearby Toluca (TLC). However, numerous flights are available on this route meaning cheap tickets and discount fares are available on slow-selling flights. Aeromexico (AM) has three to four flights per day, Mexicana (MX) has four to five, and regional carrier Aeromar (VW) has two daily flights. These full-service airlines offer guaranteed connections to many destinations world wide.

Direct Flights from Acapulco (ACA) to Guadalajara (GDL) and Monterrey (MTY)

Regional carrier Aeromexico Connect (formerly Aerolitoral) , which is owned by Aeromexico, flies daily non-stop to Guadalajara (GDL); the flight continues to Monterrey (MTY).

Non-Stop International Flights from the US to Acapulco (ACA)

International flights to and from Acapulco are surprisingly limited. Year round, Continental Express flies daily non-stop from Houston (IAH) and American Airlines (AA) flies four times per week nonstop from Dallas Fort Worth (DFW). Most international travelers to Acapulco transfer at Mexico City Airport (MEX).

  • During the winter season (mostly November to April, but especially Christmas to March) the number of non-stop flights to Acapulco from the US and Canada on both commercial and charter carriers increases dramatically.

Cheap Flights from Other Mexican Airports

Similar information is available for Mexican low-cost carriers flying from Cancun, Mexico City Airport, Toluca Airport (near Mexico City), Tijuana, Cuernavaca, and Puebla.
