Mexican Low Cost Airlines Offering Discount Fares and Deals

Cheap and discount airline tickets are available to travelers in Mexico flying to Cancun (CUN) and other Mexican destinations such as Mexico City, Toluca, and Chiapas.

Mexican budget airlines, in contrast to low-cost airlines in many other countries, generally fly to the normal main airport closest to the intended destination. The notably exception is Mexico City, where many budget airlines have to use nearby Toluca Airport (TLC). On many flights, travelers can still expect to be served free drinks and snacks. Many Mexican low cost airlines also offer Cancun vacation packages but it is always worth comparing prices with traditional airlines and tour operators.

Cheap Flights to Cancun Airport on Mexican Budget Airline Click Mexicana

Click is a low-cost airline belonging to Mexican full-service airline Mexicana allowing passengers to participate in Mexicana’s Frecuenta frequent-flyer program. Click fly at least daily non-stop to Cancun from Mexico City International Airport (MEX), Guadalajara, and Veracruz. Click also allows for guaranteed connection flights with stopovers and/or plane changes to Cancun from Aguascalientes, Huatulco, Leon, Monterrey, Oaxaca, Puerto Escondido, San Luis Potosí, Torreón, Tuxtla Gutierrez, Villahermosa, and Zihuatanejo (Ixtapa).

Volaris is a fast-growing budget airline with cheap airfares to Cancun from Toluca Airport (TLC) outside Mexico City on at least three daily flights and one daily flight from Puebla. Connecting flights to Cancun are available via Toluca from Guadalajara, Hermosillo, and Monterrey, as well as to Cancun from Tijuana via Puebla.

Interjet is a true budget airline offering low airfares to Cancun on around three flights per day from Toluca Airport (TLC) near Mexico City and daily flights from Monterrey. Although Toluca is a major hub for Interjet, in the low-cost airline tradition only point-to-point tickets are sold with no refunds for missing connections due to delays.

Cheap Flights to Cancun Airport on Mexican Budget Airline Viva Aerobus

Viva Aerobus is a low-cost airline based in Monterrey. It has a daily flight to Cancun from Monterrey with more flights on weekends and holidays. It operates on the European Ryanair model – point-to-point tickets only and no refunds.

Cheap Flights to Cancun Airport on Mexican Budget Airline Alma de Mexico

Alma de Mexico offers twice-daily flights to Cancun from Merida with a connecting flight available from Tuxtla Gutiérrez (Chiapas).

In contrast to other Mexican low-cost airlines, Aviacsa has an almost two-decade (rather than two-year) history. Free food and drinks are served on most flights and Aviacsa operates its own frequent-flyer program – five paid flights can earn travelers a free flight. Aviacsa offers their best cheap fares for sale on Tuesdays (flights may be on any available days). Several daily non-stop flights are available to Cancun from Mexico City International Airport and Monterrey. Connecting flights are also available via these two cities from many of more than 20 airports serviced by Aviacsa.

Cheap Flights to Cancun Airport on Mexican Full-Service Airlines Aeromexico and Mexicana

Aeromexico and Mexica are Mexico’s traditional full-service airlines. Both learned from low-cost airlines with their own cheap fares on slow-selling flights. Aeromexico and Mexicana offer by far the largest number of flights, two classes of service, free food, and newspapers are routinely included.
