When JetBlue's Terminal 5 (T5) opened last fall, it blew the socks off of frequent travelers with its design, features and amenities. Here's a look at the highlights.

JetBlue Airways debuted its brand-new, $743 million Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on October 22, 2008. The design of the terminal, known as T5, is airy and bright, with expansive windows and lots of natural light. It features a huge security-screening checkpoint, an unprecedented number of check-in kiosks, plus touch-screen menus where you an order food and have it delivered to your gate. Consider these modern marvels and thoughtful touches:

Two Check-In Areas

Passengers filter through one of 65 e-ticket kiosks or 40 traditional check-in counters. The hall these are located in are roomy.

Large Central Security Checkpoint

This is the largest single checkpoint in any United States airport. It accommodates 20 screening lanes, allowing passengers to pass through quickly and efficiently.

Central Food Court with Gourmet Deli Options

Yes, there is a Dunkin' Donuts, but there's also a huge case of sandwiches and organic chips, plus a super-healthy and yummy-looking salad bar with all sorts of wholesome offerings like hummus and bean salad. Other dining in the terminal includes Ciba Express, Jamba Juice, Roma Express, Fresco Pasta and Cheeburger Cheeburger.

Funky Grandstand Seating

Just outside the foodcourt is bleacher-style seats. But this is not your high-school football-stadium seating; bright red and orange throw pillows make it comfy for people perched on the benches munching away or checking their email.

More Funky Seating

In the East Concourse, instead of resting on boring rows of plastic seats, travelers can kick back on comfy, whimsically designed, interestingly shaped furniture by the designer Moroso.

Free Wireless

All airports or airport terminals need to jump on this bandwagon. What business or leisure traveler doesn't appreciate the ability to check email or get work done while waiting for a flight?

Touch-screen Meal-Order Menus

This is where T5 really shines. Depending on the time of day, you can order breakfast, lunch or dinner items from a touch-screen (while seated at an ergonomic wooden stool), and have items delivered to your gate. Brilliant!

Children's Play Space

Weary parents welcome a spot for children to run around before they're forced to sit seatbelted during a flight. This one is designed for toddlers and preschoolers with climb-on structures.

Stellar Shopping & Services

Stop by Xpress Spa for a chair massage, drop in the pharmacy for last-minute toiletries, shop for cute clothes at Lacoste or Ron Jon Surf Shop.

The spacious environment, combined with rock-star amenities and dining options, makes JetBlue's Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy International Airport an incredibly pleasant place to spend time before a flight.
